Samsung Electronics introduced the Odyssey OLED G6, the world’s first OLED gaming monitor to achieve a 500Hz refresh rate, at simultaneous launch events in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, targeting professional and competitive gamers seeking ultra-responsive displays.
Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 Specifications

The Odyssey OLED G6 raises the bar with a 500 Hz refresh rate the fastest available in any OLED display to date and a 0.03 ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time. Samsung cites internal lab tests showing motion blur reduced by over 40 percent compared with its 360 Hz LCD predecessors, translating to clearer visuals during rapid in-game movements. This responsiveness aims to give e-sports athletes a real-time edge in tournaments governed by millisecond decisions
Engineered around a 27-inch QD-OLED panel, the G6 offers a 2560 × 1440 QHD resolution. Quantum dot integration boosts color gamut to 99 percent DCI-P3, while OLED delivers per-pixel luminance. Samsung product brief states this union yields “industry-leading color fidelity and contrast,” catering both to fast-paced gaming and color-critical content creation. With VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 endorsement, the monitor attains 500 nits of sustained HDR brightness alongside true blacks. During HDR demo reels, testers reported preservation of shadow details without halo artifacts commonly seen in local-dimming LCDs. This attribute supports both dark-themed shooters and vivid environmental scenes in simulation titles.
Samsung integrates NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to eliminate tearing and stutter across GPU brands. Odyssey OLED G6 Glare Free coating minimizes reflection, while peak brightness of 1,000 nits ensures visibility under strong ambient lighting. Samsung eye-comfort suite adds flicker-free operation and a low-blue-light mode to reduce strain during extended sessions. Acknowledging OLED susceptibility to burn-in, Samsung introduces “OLED Safeguard+,” a dynamic pixel-refresh algorithm that periodically shifts sub-pixel positions. According to a company spokesperson, this system extends panel lifespan by up to 25 percent under heavy static HUD usage, based on accelerated aging tests.
The Odyssey OLED G6 earned Pantone Validated certification after passing tests for over 2,100 colors, including 110 skin-tone variants. Samsung marketing director Lee Min-Jae stated, “Creators can trust the G6 for accurate color grading and photo editing, alongside its gaming prowess.” This positions the Odyssey OLED G6 as a dual-purpose display for gamers who also engage in streaming or content production.
Until now, leading high-refresh monitors peaked at 360 Hz on LCD panels, offered by rival brands such as ASUS and Acer. By breaking the 500 Hz barrier on OLED, Samsung targets the growing Southeast Asian e-sports sector, which saw a 20 percent year-over-year increase in prize pools in 2024. Industry analysts predict the premium gaming-monitor segment will exceed USD 1 billion by 2026, driven by demand for faster, higher-contrast displays.
Launch events spanned May 13–15, 2025, across Singapore, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Kuala Lumpur, where attendees experienced hands-on demos. In Singapore, the Odyssey OLED G6 is priced at SGD 1,488 (approx. IDR 18 million). Prices in Thailand (THB 34,900), Vietnam (VND 35 990 000) and Malaysia (MYR 5 999) reflect local taxes and duties. Samsung confirms Indonesia availability “by late Q3 2025,” pending local certification and distribution setup. Samsung announced partnerships with regional e-sports leagues in SEA to supply demonstration units for qualifiers in Mobile Legends and Dota 2 tournaments. Selected pro-team players will receive G6 units for training, with performance data to be captured for future firmware tuning.
Samsung plans further firmware updates in July 2025 to optimize color-shift algorithms and enable customizable refresh-rate presets through its Odyssey Dashboard software. The company will finalize Indonesia launch dates and retail channels following the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show Southeast Asia in August. Retail pre-orders in all initial markets begin June 1, 2025.
